New forecast sees bad hurricane season, but milder than 2005
PARIS, France (AFP): A long-range forecast issued
Thursday became the second prediction in just over
a week to declare that this year's Atlantic storm
season would be bad, but nowhere as brutal as the
2005 record crop that produced Hurricane Katrina.

officially readmitted to the Caribbean Community
(CARICOM) after being kicked out in 2004, according

UN peacekeepers, gangs clash in Haiti slum
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (Reuters): UN troops and
gangs exchanged gunfire in Haiti's largest slum in the
first such clash in months, and witnesses said on
Thursday that three people were killed.
