Rice, CARICOM foreign ministers to meet on sidelines of UN assembly
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AFP): Foreign ministers from
the 15-nation Caribbean Community (CARICOM) are
to hold talks with US Secretary of State Condoleezza
Rice in New York on September 25, the group's
Guyana-based headquarters announced Tuesday.

Bush, Annan, discuss post-Castro Cuba
NEW YORK, USA (AFP): US President George W. Bush
and UN chief Kofi Annan on Tuesday discussed ailing
Cuban leader Fidel Castro's health and whether Cuba
would become an "economic tiger" once he leaves
the world scene, the White House said.

NEW DELHI, India (Bloomberg): Oil & Natural Gas
Corp., India's biggest oil explorer, may bid for stakes
in oil fields in Cuba, Chairman R.S. Sharma told

Tuesday.

ST LOUIS, USA (Bloomberg): Betonsports Plc., the
Antigua-based sports book indicted by the Justice
Department for illegal Internet gambling, is
negotiating a possible settlement of pending criminal
and civil actions, both sides said Tuesday.

Barbados government rejects IMF advice to increase VAT

HAVANA, Cuba: Renovation work on the building in
Cuba's capital, Havana, to house the embassy of
Antigua and Barbuda is moving at a fast pace to
facilitate its opening by November this year. Prime
Minister Baldwin Spencer toured the facilities on
Friday.
