Chavez says Fidel Castro travels, health improving
CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters): Venezuelan
President, Hugo Chavez, said on Friday that Cuban
leader, Fidel Castro, was walking about and making
nocturnal trips outside Havana, countering rumours
the ailing 80-year-old was dead. Castro has long
acted as a mentor to Chavez.

Attacks prompt increased patrols, aerial surveillance in Guyana

surveillance have been conducted and will continue,
as well as an increase in the number of police
patrols, following attacks on residents of West Bank

applicants for visitor visas (non-immigrant visas, or

BASSETERRE, St Kitts: Undeclared cargo of 41 cases
of beer on a vessel from St Vincent has cost the
boat captain EC$10,000 and seizure of the goods in

Cuba says dengue outbreak caused deaths, no figures
HAVANA, Cuba (Reuters): Cuba is containing an
outbreak of dengue fever that has caused a number
of deaths, the Pan-American Health Organisation said
this week, citing a Cuban government report that
gave no figures.

States called for tight security and safeguards
against terrorism on Thursday, as nine Caribbean
nations prepared to host next year's world cricket
championship in the West Indies. The request came

Chertoff.

PARAMARIBO, Suriname: In a crackdown against
pirates along the Surinamese coast, authorities
recently have arrested five Brazilian nationals on
smuggling charges, police officials confirmed.

the look-out for two armed men, who abducted a 53-
year-old man and stole a fishing boat to make good
their escape.

Bush assures Dominican Republic leader on free trade progress
WASHINGTON, USA (Bloomberg): President George
W. Bush has assured the Dominican Republic's
president that the US is working to begin the Central
American Free Trade agreement "as soon as
possible." The accord removes duties on 80 percent
of the $15 billion in annual US exports to the region.

Dutch hold Bermuda-based tycoon longer in money laundering probe

allowed Dutch authorities to hold a Dutch
businessman and oil tycoon for 14 days for
questioning about money laundering and other illicit
activities, a prosecution spokeswoman said on
Tuesday. John Deuss, 64, arrived in the Netherlands

Suriname police officer jailed for killing teen
PARAMARIBO, Suriname: A judge in Suriname has
sentenced a police officer to an 8-year jail term for
the killing of a 16-year old boy on January 10, 2006.
Prosecutor Chandra Algoe sought a twelve year
sentence for what she called a deliberate killing.
